Hi,

just got a drive for short testing...

Complete log available locally - important parts shown below.

Case label:

Seagate
Expansion Portable Drive
Model: SRD00F1

# update-smart-drivedb
/var/lib/smartmontools/drivedb/drivedb.h updated from trunk
# smartctl -a /dev/sdc
smartctl 6.4 2014-09-29 r3990 [i686-linux-3.16.0-00046-g68e0854] (local build)

/dev/sdc: Unknown USB bridge [0x13fd:0x3910 (0x100)]
Please specify device type with the -d option.

Use smartctl -h to get a usage summary

# smartctl -d sat -a /dev/sdc
smartctl 6.4 2014-09-29 r3990 [i686-linux-3.16.0-00046-g68e0854] (local build)
Copyright (C) 2002-14, Bruce Allen, Christian Franke, www.smartmontools.org

=== START OF INFORMATION SECTION ===
Model Family: SAMSUNG SpinPoint M7E (AF)

No SMART attributes had any "unknown" description,
so from an implementation POV we seem to be fine here :-)

Interesting lsusb -v parts:

  idVendor 0x13fd Initio Corporation
  idProduct 0x3910
  bcdDevice 1.00
  iManufacturer 1 Seagate
  iProduct 2 3.0
  iSerial 3 303030303030303030303030

So, this device appears to need a "-d sat" entry added to the controller
database.

I will now proceed with adding an entry to Wiki Supported_USB-Devices...

Thanks,

Andreas Mohr
