Hi,

I wanted to report that JMF601 SSDs *are* unreliable indeed,
with some cases of data loss/corruption (some flash blocks erased with
random data, possibly due to premature power loss during write activity).

This time, it was so bad that it lost its firmware and changed its
PID to 0xf601 (and a characteristic "flash me" ID string).

So I went on a hunt for a flash tool, which in fact is available and where
version history appears to be this:

  B.2.2
  60X MP Tool for XP vB.2.6 (090331)
60X MP Tool for XP vB.2.9(090508S)
  60X MP Tool for XP vB.2.11 (090928).rar
  .2.11.8

  JMMassProd B[1].2.16 (100415)

  JMMassProd_B.2.16.3

JMF602 SSD JMMassProd vB.2.16

I managed to use B.2.16, the seemingly newest JMF60x version,
to recover my device, *with full data content preserved*, fortunately
(BUT MAKE SURE TO NOT CHECK ANY ACTIVITY OPTION OTHER THAN Download Program!!
no disruptive Flash Test, no Pre-Format, nothing!).

Note that USB 1.1 connection did NOT WORK - I had to plug a USB 2
CardBus adapter to actually get it recognized successfully.

Detection/configuration/flashing actually was quite easy then.

So much for a detailed report for other people ending up in similar
undesireable situations...

Hrmm. Not sure what kind of use I'll dare to entrust in this device in
future...
(but with this somewhat newer firmware it might actually work more
reliably now, hopefully, perhaps, fingers crossed, cats sacrificed).

Phew... now I'm slightly better off than before :)
