The spirit of Linux is to give you the tools so you can do things how
you want. You have the tools, do not expect someone else to come over
and plant/maintain your garden. Just because they can do a thing
doesn't mean they should do a thing.
There are many ways to achieve what is desired, most of which do not
require anyone other than the system admin.
If your issue can be solved without affecting others, leave them alone
and fix your issue.

We've long observed that various distributions make decisions we may not
necessarily agree with. As we regard the slurm installation critical to
our function, we choose to build from source and control its version
(and contents) without any doubts.
