Hello all,
I'm having some trouble with no_consume gres. Specifically, I'm trying to use a certain gres as a feature, but prefer it to be gres so I can track it's usage/consumption. relevant potion of slurm.conf: GresTypes=b AccountingStorageTRES=gres/b NodeName=n01 # gres will be added via scontrol later At this point I don't yet have gres.conf. sinfo -hn n01 -o '%G' (null) When trying to submit jobs using no_consume gres that doesn't exist they work for some reason: srun -w n01 --gres=a:no_consume hostname n01 However, using the gres defined in slurm.conf produces an error: srun -w n01 --gres=b:no_consume hostname srun: error: Unable to allocate resources: Requested node configuration is not available Trying to add that gres to the node: scontrol update nodename=n01 Gres=b:no_consume ssh n01 service slurm restart sinfo -hn n01 -o '%G' b:no_consume The previous command "srun -w n01 --gres=a:no_consume hostname" still works, and the new gres b still doesn't work (same error). Adding gres.conf: Name=b Or Name=b Count=0 and restarting the slurmd daemon doesn't help. As a control measure, I have also tried adding the gres to slurm.conf: NodeName=n01 Gres=b:no_consume and running the two srun commands again, results were the same (the non existing gres works, the existing one doesn't). Any help in using no_consume gres would be greatly appreciated. Best regards, --Dani_L.
