I always attempt to redirect output to a file with: #SBATCH --error slurm_log.err
Sometimes I also redirect output to a file: #SBATCH --output slurm_log.out And sometimes I don't care about the output: #SBATCH --output /dev/null In the first case, everything works fine - both .err and .out are created. In the second case, it neither file is created, as if stderr is going to /dev/null as well. I am running slurm 16.05.4.
