Wendy, I dont know if this helps or applies but I will offer a few things just
in case. We had a dog almost die from mange when I was a child. The vet had
tried everything topically. My mother was sharing this with the local butcher
and he told us to change her food. My mom had been putting eggs(for her coat)
and milk on her food. We stopped that and switched her food and her mange
cleared up.
For the dogs ears, I would suggest a product called natural care
Veterinarians Best. You can buy it at a pet store. My dog has had a history of
untreatable ear infections and this product has completly cleared her ears up.
You are suppossed to use a maintenence dose but I havent found that necessary
unless it is allergy season or her ears get wet from a bath.
Another good topical spray for other areas is called Healing Tree Equine
wound spray. This company carries other products for skin problems and it is
fit for humans. Some of them have a very low dose of cortisone in them but if
you dont want this, there are products that dont have this I have used the
spray for scalp fungus. It sounds like your situation might be contagious.
