Hi Barbara, I can understand your reaction, since so many people are not "electrically inclined" and it all seems a bit mystical.
Actually, there is an entire branch of alternative medicine known as "electromedicine" which most people here are familiar with since it's so useful. That's why it's a "natural" thing for somebody to suggest. A lot of different concepts are involved in the broad category of "electromedical" devices, from complex radio signals, to magnetic fields, to alternating current, and pulsed or direct current devices. All involve causing electrical signals of some sort to flow in body tissues, either by direct contact or by induction. In this case, things like Beck's Blood Electrifier or the "Godzilla" device, or a Clark Zapper might apply. These are low voltage, low current, battery powered devices that are used in contact with the skin. Of course the others have mentioned a stun gun as another option. Google the keywords and familiarize yourself with the gamut of electromedicine devices and what they are good for. It's useful knowledge to add to your arsenal. Some are so simple anybody can make one with a handful of parts from a Radio Shack. Others require the skill of a modestly trained electronics technician or hobbyist.
