When my son had what seemed to be a brown recluse bite many years ago, the doctor told us to put ice on it, to help stop the spread of the thing. And he put him on an antibiotic right away, because infection is very common in these things. It sure looked infected. The doctor thought he was lucky and didn't get much venom as he was bitten through a sock on the foot, not on bare skin. But this doctor did think that was what the bite was, he did his residency in the south where they are more common than here.

At the time I had no knowledge of CS etc. But I do question putting heat on such a bite.

Hi Barbara,

Yeah maybe hot water or a heat lamp might work also.

Take care,

Thank you V. Maybe he should soak his arm in hot water? But will that
water be hot enough to neutralize the enzymes? I doubt it.
