Same thing I use, put a 5k or 10k multi turn trimmer pot on it and you have a 
ajustable current control.

I did not use the LM337 I used the LM317 which is a three terminal adjustable 
regulator.
 
The voltage drop across the resistor sets the current limit. A 100 ohm resistor 
will regulate at 12mA.
