Its a big chuck of Himalayan rock salt with a whole put in the bottom of it.A removable lamp with a 7 - 15 or 25 watt bulb is placed in it.Most of the sellers say the heat from the light causes the salt to release negative ions. One site thinks it the light waves that cause it to release the negative ions.!
