Has anyone had any success with humming while closing the mouth to promote better breathing?Yoga? TJ

I forgot to add, along with the rest about singing and yoga. In singing when humming, the voice is called a head voice, and the sound reverberated throughout the skull. (Most men have an undeveloped head voice).

Tone improves quickly after a few minutes practice, and those vibrations have powerful effects. The improvement in tone naturally occurs with the feedback you receive, ie. you need to be calm, in no hurry and undistracted and hear yourself, even though its never so nice to begin with. So, an improvement in tone ( to me) is immediate evience of healing healing! It also restores a natural confidence. What's more, if you can do it with a close friend around, you will get their feedback in the amazing improvement.

Specific mantras may be advocated, but if you are that way inclined, just humming becomes a spiritual syllable, and focus (Omm). And mantras may have concepts buried in them when received, hmm is non-conceptual , so a mantra in that respect. The pronounciation of hum has enough lattitude to suit any voice, and I think that goes across all human cultures.
