She may be a few pounds overweight but is very far from being obese, let
alone seriously overweight. Her mother has the problem too, so perhaps a
genetic predisposition. Varicose veins in my experience do seem to "run"
in families. Most of my friends who have them also have mothers who had
them. But my mother had them, and though I have developed some "spider"
veins in my old age, I have nothing that even remotely resembles the
bulging knots they have. In fact one of my friends with really ugly and
extensive varicose veins is a very small person, and has never been
overweight a day in her entire life. Guess I'm lucky? I am clincally
obese, and not very active, and since my mother and other relatives had
them I "should" have them?
At any rate, I assume CS applied topically to any varicosity that is
approaching ulceration would be beneficial, if for no other reason than
to prevent infection, and perhaps taken orally could also be of benefit
in lessening the possibility of ulceration and infection? As I said my
one friend was angry at me for suggesting the doorway excercise as
possibly helpful, but another may be open to it. I simply try to share
info that may possibly be of benefit. Sometimes people not only don't
appreciate it but get angry. The person who got mad at me obviously
prefers to think the surgery was a total "cure".

It is always best to attack the cause rather than work on the symptoms.
Varicose veins are a symptom of major problems. When one strips veins it
removes a bit of the circulation back to the heart putting a larger load on
the remaining veins...hence an exacerbation of the problem...not a cure.
She needs to ask the question...why do I have this problem. Overweight
perhaps?
