If floaties are metallic silver monomolecular films on the air-liquid interface, and if they exhibit interference fringes (like oil slicks do), it may then be possible to measure the average thickness of the particles. Two laser diode wavelengths would give two independent ways of measuring the layer thickness. Has anybody noticed interference fringes on the floaties?
