MRSA is standardly treated with Nupricin nasal ointment and daily baths with chlorhexadine. Nasal and rectal swabs are taken every week until there are three negative results in a row. It's an opportunistic organism and won't harm you unless you are compromised immunologically. If you didn't want to go this route, I suppose you could go with a nasal spray of CS with xylitol and completely wet yourself down with CS at least once a day and let your skin stay wet for at least three minutes. If you are not taking the standard treatment, you may have difficulty getting an MD to do the swabs but you may luck out, especially if you are paying for the tests. Hope this is helpful. Get three negs in a row and you a relax a little . MRSA can colonize in hard to get at areas and recolonize a person. Generally, once you have been pegged with MRSA in Canada, you will always get put into isolation upon admission to hospital until 3 negs come back. I think in the USA, it is already been accepted as endemic and they no longer put people in isolation for it. I may be wrong about this.
