I have read extensively about this topic, and thought I knew most of
what is known, but was astounded to read recently that the PNG
tribesmen may well have been given their disease by Japanese military
researchers during WWII. This report claimed that there were no cases
of Kuru before the Japanese invaded. I do not recall offhand just
how the military "doctors" set about this alleged crime.
Given the abominable record of atrocities by the Imperial Army, this
would not surprise me in the least. (In the city where I live,
captured airmen were vivisected and their organs eaten -- this is a
fact.) Such abominations certainly help one to understand the reason
that so many people worldwide retain bad feelings toward Japan, whose
citizens, taken as a whole, are of course just like everyone else.

Hi folks,
Mad Cow Disease: Punishment of the Gods for cannibalism. I will
search my archives - real ones - books, for the original definitive
story of M.C. disease, but for now:
It was first isolated in Papua New Guinea by a mixed bag of
Australians and Englishmen studying a tribe in which a most peculiar
and devastating disease regularly occurred. To cut a long story short
"Prions" are a non-existent medical-political trick, the cause being
determined as the habit of the women of the tribe ritualistically
eating important dead people - and only the women getting the best
bits, one of which was the brain.
Other tribes knew about it - but they were only Boongs, so who
listened? - and they knew that it was caused by eating the same type
of animal - not just humans, but pigs who ate pigs. M.C. Disease? A
punishment of the Gods for cannibalism.
So don't do it!
