I never do anything at all. Dozens, if not hundreds have bitten me over the years.
This is one thing that caused me a 4 or 5 day delay in realizing I had something worse this time.
I did an experiment with a repelling garter for fire ants a year or so ago. Will provide the details later. Someone might want to duplicate and test it further.
