Although I take it this is a joke, you may be closer than you think.  Since
silver causes injured cells to revert to stem cells, which can then convert to
any kind of cell needed, this could be pretty close.

Cancer cells revert to stem cells, then convert back to what it was suppose to
be. This information is in "The Electric Body" by Robert Becker.

One thing I have never been able to figure out is how the CS gets to cells
infected with a virus.  Maybe the CS causes the cell to revert to a stem cell,
which then converts to the most needed thing at that point, a white blood cell
or something that then consumes the virus internally.

Maybe it causes pathogens to revert to an undifferentiated cell, which then
causes them to no longer be viable, or invisible to the immune system.

An interesting line of thought.
