Hi Elle, You seem to have reasoned out Good Solutions to most of your problems--I commend you! First rule: NEVER apply DMSO to skin without first Cleaning Skin, as it will take ANYTHING that is on the skin through the skin! Many sports trainers apply DMSO by spraying on or massaging on and leaving wet, then taping or bandaging. Just a few minutes ago, I rubbed (3 or 4 small applications to my wife's Sciatica) with soft application--we discussed the slight odor and agreed it's NOT unpleasant; especially with the relief it gives.
Nothing wrong with you trying the formula you mentioned. Also, you could crush any pain tablet, mix into 70% DMSO and apply over the source of pain. Does she use a Zapper? Is she simultaneously taking CS orally? Let's get that gal some relief! If I can be of help, let me know. Sincerely, Richard Harris, FL Pharmacist -----Original Message----- From: silversurfer1952 . Any thoughts on using DMSO in a case like this? Would one use it straight (diluted with distilled water) or perhaps mixed with some other beneficial ingredient?" This evening I mixed a 70% solution of DMSO using 24ppm CS. I applied it first to my own wrist to see what kind of reaction I would have, applied it a couple of times and allowed it to dry in-between applications. I wanted to be certain that it wouldn't burn too much before applying it to my mother's lower lumbar region. We both felt only a mild prickly feeling on the skin... nothing major, and the bad odour never materialized for either one of us... perhaps because we used so little, or because we both smelled bad and couldn't tell the difference! ;-) I left my mother's about an hour after the application, so I don't know if it was of any help to her, but I told her to re-apply it tomorrow. What I'm wondering about is mode of application for the lumbar area. Is it enough to apply a single, thin coating of a 70% solution and expect positive results (reduction of inflamation, pain reduction, etc) ? What about soaking a gauze pad and keeping it in place for an hour, or more? Would that burn too much? Any ideas? Elle PS: I think I'll make a batch using Richard's recipe of CS, MSM, and DMSO for my mom. I really hope it helps her 'cause she's so energectic and the only way she gets any relief currently is taking Advil. thanks again. _________________________________________________________________ Add photos to your messages with MSN 8.
