What form is the sulfur in? If it is hydrogen sulfide, which smells like rotten eggs, then that is pretty poisonous.
The well up at our ranch has loads of iron and sulfur. Found a way to take them both out that works extremely well if you are interested, and increases the pH to slightly above 7 from around 3 or 4.
