Units that operate quickly and use small electrodes tend to make large particles. This causes the solution to turn black and plate out quickly. Besides being unpalatable, this reduces the number of silver ions available to kill bacteria and viruses. So the cs is not very effective. It is very difficult to increase the wetted area and keep uniform current density. For example, many units use flat strips of silver instead of round wire. This tends to concentrate the current at the edges and produce large particles. So, faster is not necessarily better, regardless of the price.
