List: I saw the following on Quackwatch. This individual was MIGHT have a
good mix of open mindedness and scientific standing to help evaluate the
efficacy of CS, or at least provide some guidlines to do so. Roger.

Dear Dr Chot,
I have had the great pleasure and privilege of meeting Prof. Ernst. He is
a really nice guy, totally professional and produces a great deal of work
from his department in Exeter University.
You can contact him by e-mail at [email protected]
When he took the job at Exeter the Dept of Comp Med. was basically a pro -
alt med department, and it did not have any great professionalism or
academic rating. Prof. Ernst has worked really hard and established the
department as an objective, factual and reputable place which produces good
results. Of course, since he is now achieving respect and standing within
the scientific community the 'true believers' feel betrayed - thus the
whining.
He is also editor-in-chief of an excellent publication called
FACT [Focus on Alternative and Complementary Therapies].
Prof. Ernst gave information to the recent House of Lords UK committee on
Alt. Med, and when I spoke with him after the HoL recommendations were
published, he was very pleased with the outcome.

One of the biggest difficulties in the UK is the Royal family and
particularly Price Charles endorsement of homeopathy and alt med. PC
regularly calls for monies [taxpayers money that is] to be spent on
investigating all sorts of silliness. I noted with interest, that on the
two occasions HRH broke a bone, he was treated by conventional means at a
regular hospital and not the homeopathic hospital.
So far as I am aware, HRH has not visited Exeter or examined the work of
Prof. Ernst. A great pity.
