I was on ssri's for years and had all kinds of problems and worse problems when
I tapered off too fast all hell broke loose with me...fear, panic, anxiety,
insomnia, severe gut problems, internal legs tremors this past winter was the
worst time of my life but I learned so much...I will never ever take their
pills again...having said that I am being told that St Johns Wort is just as
dangerous as the SSRI'S and I totally disagreed with this person ...I feel
really good taking the herb she is saying if I take it long time I will run
into the same problems that I did on the SSRI'S per a mayo clinic site...my
dispute is she is getting her information from the same people that prescribe
SSRI'S that are calling St Johns Wort a bad choice....'

Does St Johns Wort work the same way that SSRI'S dois my question...is it
dangerous to take it because it raises serotonin?
================================================ St. Johns Wort is not, to my
knowledge, dangerous in its own right. The problem is, when you COMBINE it with
toxicdrugs, there can be unforeseen repercussions. BYI, SSRIs don’t raise
serotonin per se. Theycause the body to recycle what serotonin is already
present. However, this inand of itself creates problems on its own. I
strongly recommend a great book byJulia Ross called The Mood Cure. She explains
why supplementing with aminoacids is safer and more reliable than
pharmaceuticals. She details which aminoacid supplements you should take under
what circumstances, how they work andinteract with the body, and the kind of
results you can expect. Nenah Nenah Sylver, PhD author, The Rife Handbook
