Hi Bob, That can happen if the rods rest on the container or if there is no stirring. The cloud of silver can build up around the electrodes and "electro-plating" takes place either on the container wall or in the water between the electrodes. silver/black very thin flakes are produced which can stick to the container or float up to the surface. .
