If you have taken a lot of antacids or acid blockers (from baking soda, to proton pump inhibitors to Zantac and the like) you likely have low stomach acid. Google "home test for low stomach acid". I have read that around 80% of cases of "acid reflux" are actually caused by too little stomach acid. I do not know how much increasing stomach acid levels will do to reducing an existing C. Difficile infection, but low stomach acid will keep conditions favorable for it to keep recurring, so my view is you want to directly attack the bacterial overgrowth, and promote a proper level of acid in the stomach so you don't keep getting new infections.
I take Betaine HCL with pepsin to increase stomach acid.

Also take a look at stomach acid, often C. difficile infections are
allowed to flourish because of low stomach acid. I have read also
that they are more common in older people because stomach acid levels
get lower as we age. So among other measures, increasing stomach acid
might be helpful.
