Shirley,
Great site!
I have a 96 yr old friend who was visited by a home care nurse, the nurse was immediately alarmed by the "looks" of her and immediately hustled her into her car and drove another 30 minutes to a differant hospital to have her thyroid tested.  She was so low the doctor was very concerned.
I must note that she was constantly being tested here in this town near our own hospital, about 10 minutes away, by her doctor and always  came up negative.

If you do a google on "dr. derry""iodine" you may find that his asthma patients had good success with thyroid supplements, which makes one think that iodine supplementation, which allows the thyroid gland to function much better, just might decrease asthma as well.   Like CS, iodine seems to help everything.   pj
