I use GMail. it's totally free and it's Spam filter is brilliant. i get
several hundred spam messages each day.
Not sure if Dee said how many she gets.
I think it has to do with where you go, what you do, what you wear, what
you eat, and the color of your hair.
( if anyone has any hair )
I think many get more in a day or week than I get in 6 months or more.
Likely within one year.
I use 4 mail servers and 4 email addresses. Some have never had a single
spam message.
My private list, has never had a single spam make it to the list. Not to
my knowledge. But I do work at that.
I have never been bothered by spam, trojan's, or viruses.
Not sure why.
I keep all spam filters turned off on the servers and any that might creep
into my computer. I don't think they are any. I usually delete them when I
can.
If I get a few messages that contain the word Mortgage or Church, I make a
simple filter for them, and they go in the junk or AAAspam mailbox. And
none are deleted automatically.
Fact is, I never want my computer to anything on its own.
Who thinks it can outguess me or outthink me?
If any program does very much without my permission or without me
initializing it, ........ I fix that. I delete the whole program.
Get everything out of startup, look at the task manager, check the
applications running.......... Often I delete files based on this.
Recently a friend bought a nice new computer, very powerful.
I told him, he had all that power and spent all that money, not to do the
things he needed to do.
He had to buy it to do all the Microsoft CRAP ! Nothing else.
Heck, a 386 or a 486 with enough ram, maybe a ram disk, could do more than
his tasks ever required.
I had a large RamDisk on the 8088, my first computer.
It was surprisingly fast.
At the moment, the virus scanner bugged me and did something I did not
like. I deleted it, and do not even have a virus scanner running.
And honestly, I do not know why I have so little trouble, just my non
conformist way of doing things, I guess.
