Hi Gene and members, We sold distillers such as that one but had bad luck with some of them and discontinued selling them. I believe the problem is in production and assembly tolerances. If the amount of nichrome heating element wire is a bit short the element will get hotter than if it is longer. Also, if the heating element is closer to the boiling pot it will boil the water more vigorously.
If the water is boiled too rapidly it will entrain some of the minerals and they will come over the helm into the receiver making the water conductive. Also, leaving the carbon post filter in the discharge will allow some carbon to get into the water raising its conductivity. So, in order too offset the first two situations one can use a Variac to run the distiller at a lower boiling temperature and that will produce a much lower conductivity water. If anyone buys a Variac make sure it has a capacity of at least 750 watts. This is pricey so you can see it's more cost effective to buy the water locally. We give above advice to out of country customers that have to make their own DW and buy a distiller. I hope this helps. Since we had some distilled water to make CS that I wanted to use up, I did not try to use water from the distiller until late last week. The other reason we bought the distiller was because we did not want to drink water with drugs in it. When we put the distilled water from the Love unit in the SilverGen the green light turned on immediately, so I turned it off. I then tried to re-distill the water. I tried that in the SilverGen, and it still did not work. I called American Water Distillers today, and had a very unpleasant conversation. They said they would not refund my money, but I could return the unit, at my expense, and they would check it and, if it worked to their satisfaction and made "distilled water", they would return it to me at my expense. I took the unit out and dumped it in the trash. I was not about to spend another cent on that unit. Gene Wolfe
