The state where you live can make a big difference.
We moved to Northern Vermont from Rhode Island a year ago, and we now buy
raw milk direct from a local organic dairy ($6 per Gal).
They sell local, organic raw milk cheese in the supermarket here (ok, it's
actually an organic coop).
They also sell locally raised, organic grass fed beef year round.
Plus farmer's markets where you can buy organic local produce.
There are good reasons why Vermont was recently rated the healthiest state
in the Union.
Meanwhile, my daughter's mother in law moved here from Ohio, and she still
eats all the processed foods from Shaws.
Go figure.....
Of course, winters here are usually long, cold, and snowy, but that is
probably healthier anyway.
Vermont is not perfect, but on balance it is the best state I have ever
lived in.
Not to mention one of the most beautiful.
New Hampshire would also probably be a good choice (less expensive), but I
don't know much about it.
(No, I don't work for the local Chamber of Commerce).
