The excavations at Gobekli Tepe in Turkey goes back to ~10,000 BC, and have been established as religious strutctures. So, yes--there is definite proof that worship goes back to neolithic/paleolithic/jeanmauelic times. It also estbalishes fantasy as the oldest genre of literature.
