I'm amused that a minor piece of phrasing that gives the benefit of the doubt bothers you so much. The way of life that America has chosen for itself isn't by any stretch of imagination socialist; so when a capitalist acts in selfish self interest why does America get so hot and bothered? BTW, companies do this all the time; I don't see Google or Intel or Apple coming under similar fire for dodging taxes with off shore accounting and banking of assets.
