All Indians on this list (and yes I am shamelessly generaliazing and speaking 
for everyone) are Macaulayites who derive their inputs primarily from the 
West. Hence our ideas of sexual orientation tend to get influenced by Western 
mores.

The fact is that Indian society demands that a duty of a man and woman is to 
marry (yes marry) and then have children. Both being considered essential for 
the health of society.

India does not experiment with society - like I believe the US does. I suspect 
Indians have had Indian society for so long - all the experiments are "been 
there done that".

For Indians, Sex to have children is a duty. Sex for fun is not a duty. Its an 
option. If you enjoy same sex relations you are still not doing your duty. 
You still need to marry and have children to fulfil your societal duty. 

So about the question about sexual orientation - it is a very Western 
question. Sex for what? For fun? Or as a duty?
