The Hindu has different people setting their crosswords these days, I am
told (source: from memory, some crossword egroup). One of the guys who does
it is terrible, but one is quite good. If you're lucky enough to do the
crossword on the day he sets it, it can prove very entertaining.
As for the crossword being legendary, it *does* have a semi-mythical status.
The ET crossword may be better, but nostalgia has a huge role to play here.
I still see people's eyes glazing over when they mention the Hindu
crossword. (As Amit would put it, it's a meme that may have outlived it's
utility :-)

DH- that's the crossword I first started on, but I haven't done it in 15
years. It just doesn't have that ability to get you hooked on to it.

One of the eastern papers (either the Telegraph or the Statesman) has a good
crossword; I do it whenever I'm in Jamshedpur.
