I think the reason for not having 100% coverage finders is
historical... e.g. If you are shooting slides 100% coverage in the
finder is a disadvantage as the edges of the slide are usually cropped
during processing and framing - so if you had 100% coverage in the
finder you could have lost some part of your composition.....
