Yes, but that's not much of a problem in practice. GSM encryption
is effectively worthless (IMPI catchers, ahem), you probably can't 
reflash GSM module over air, and it doesn't allow you to put in 
surveillance hooks. Let's see what they'll do about IPsec and
OpenVPN VPNs, though.

If the main OS is trusted, and can't get malfirmware over air
that's a major advantage in my book. (Hey, I don't trust my
desktop when it's booted into a proprietary system, why should
I trust a yet another computer which happens to be mobile?)

I don't quite agree. I do use Symbian, and I do carry my mobile phone,
I just don't trust the system's integrity, and don't say anything
important over air, or even when the battery is is within the
set. 

(If you think I'm overly paranoid, that's okay. You probably
haven't been under telecommunication surveillance, and haven't 
made a short national secret list of potential troublemakers/
subversives. With the legal situation in Germany rapidly deteriorating
with very little counterpressure from the grassroots it is
only prudent to plan for the worst).
