I don't think mediocrity as such is a rewarded trait in India or anywhere else. It just so happens that people who are mediocre in one area may achieve success by virtue of another skill. So, Ankit Fadia, whatever his skills as a hacker, clearly excels at marketing, publicity and self-promotion, and that has made him successful. It's like saying "Microsoft's programs are mediocre because of X - why are they successful?". The answer has nothing to do with their programs - it's because they've had a few big strokes of luck and Gates, Ballmer, et al are very good businessmen. Badri
