this is the part that i dont get : "games that begat movies". i have yet to see a real film born out of a video game...
This red vs blue appears fine... in the sense it appeals to people who have watched MASH and are interested in video games. if i want to watch a movie, i will go and watch a movie. if i want to play a video game i will go and play a video game. but watching someone else play the video game for me is not really an exciting prospect.
By using the game to actually make cinema, Burns and his crew flipped a switch that neatly closed a self-referential media loop: movies begat games that begat movies.
