Interesting. So if the product X (whose larger purpose is unrelated to POP serving) _depends_on_ the modified GPLed POP server Y (i.e. cannot perform its larger function without the presence of the modified Y), then you say X *could* be held to be a derivative of Y? But the fact that X talks to Y through modified-POP rather than linking to it discourages that interpretation? -- ams
