For the record: *I* didn't modify any GPLed POP3 server (or whatever).
I constructed a simplified scenario (loosely based both on discussions
elsewhere and a similar real-life situation) to try and understand the
legal issues involved.

So it's not *my* proprietary software or *my* obligations I was asking
about. Just thought I should make that clear.

s/you/one/ in my previous email. My argument reads cleaner if I used
'you' instead of 'one'. Of course I realize you were using the POP3
server as a simplified example of the situation you were describing.
Since we had established the complexity of the problem with a
particular example, I continued to use the example to make my
interpretation known.
