The "obvious" applicaton and target nation for a machine gun-toting robot that can distinguish between humans and trees or whatever is India - with guarding of the line of control between Jammu and Kashmir and Pakistan occupied Kashmir in mind. It has been estimated that at any given time there are several thousand trained men waiting in camps across the border in Pakistan occupied Kashmir to be infiltrated in small groups into India for fidayeen missions. In the "bad old days" Pakistani artillery would provide covering fire so that these men could slip in. But after the events of the last 5 years there are no more artillery duels and the Line of Control has been more or less fenced. But men come in through un -fenceable gaps. These are covered by man-portable radar and men with night vision equipment and a shoot to kill policy. One step up from here would be a robot. shiv
