The one year program at ISB costs you nearly 15 lakhs rupees (35K USD). The two year program at the IIMs should set you back by about 4 lakhs (9K USD). That excludes the oppurtunity costs, ofcourse. While historically IIMs have been heavy with freshers, the situation is changing - fast. At IIMK more that 82% have workex. The older IIMs are reluctant to change and disturb time-tested batch profiles that are a hit with recruiters. Moreover, how many undergraduates in India get to work in investment banking, or equity research, or consulting - which are the biggest payers and most popular on b-school campuses? Getting diversity in workex has been quite a challenge for campuses here, from what I hear.
