it isnt microsoft but the open content alliance, led by brewster kahle and the
internet archive. microsoft and yahoo are both supporters of the OCA, as are 
several publishers and US university libraries. the main difference between
the OCA and google print is that OCA asks authors and publishers and libraries
for permission to scan, and google doesn't. guess who the authors and 
publishers prefer.
