That, in my opinion, is how social media ought to be done.
Okay, I suppose I must chip in.
I don't concede that the "deaf aunt" approach is how it *ought* to be
done, but it's pretty clearly how social media *is* being done at present.
I've never been a big fan of social media. It's like drinking from a
fire-hose and hoping you catch the occasional fish.
My introduction to S-M activity was on a couple of Usenet fora, until
the kiddies swamped the signal to noise ratio. I was also active on a
Muck, which was very cool as the admins let the users build and
interact, there were no battles save of wits, and I was one of the admins.
Today, I'm on a few groups.io, where the specificity of the topics make
not only spam but off-topic posts stand out, and where moderators simply
plonk offenders (or lose all their good posters).
I still have a toe in Facebook, LinkedIn, and NextDoor, but my
enthusiasm and posting are fading fast, and I'll probably drop out of
all three when I leave for a seven-month world cruise next month.
It will take a lot to pull me back in to them.
Then of course there's Silk, but we all know that.
Cheers,
