Hi All,
A friend of mine mentioned Silicon Beach a few months ago but I've only just
discovered the amazing amount of info stored in the list archives. Great
stuff! I've been meaning to send out an introduction email for a week or two
now and I've finally got a spare 5 minutes.

First off, Digital Pigeon (https://digitalpigeon.com) is a large file transfer
application available in web and desktop versions, as well a nifty iPhone App
for tracking, managing and forwarding your big files.

Born of a frustration with insufficient email servers and overcomplicated FTPs,
and the juggernaut that is Yousendit. Digital Pigeon is the proud love child of
Gus Johnston, Stu Clayton and myself, three Melbournians with a simple passion
to make things (and hopefully better in the process).

The three friends combine to create formidable skill set. I have well over a
decade of experience in Software and Web development for the likes of Sensis,
Miscrosoft and FAST, building and working on some of Australia’s most
trailblazing online platforms in the relative infancy of the web. Gus at the
other end of the spectrum is a Writer, Art Director and Filmmaker who’s spent
the last 12 years working in Advertising helping to launch and grow some of the
world’s most iconic brands. Stu then forms a rudder of right and left-brain
expertise to round off the team. With a background in Multimedia Stu’s able to
apply his technical skills with his design firepower and has helped bring
Digital Pigeon to life.

Collectively Gus, Stu and I formed Sixty Digits in late 2010, it took us a
while to get the ball rolling but we've built Digital Pigeon from the ground
up. We've spent several months in a Beta testing while we build out the backend
to support the desktop and mobile platforms, we've recently released our Mac
desktop app, moved into an office in Port Melbourne and we're currently working
on the premium subscription services.

Since our soft launch (friends , friends of friends, rabbits and relations)
we've been getting some pretty positive feedback and usage has been growing at
around 40% per month. It's been an amazing experience so far but we
definitely have some challenges ahead of us; this list will be an invaluable
asset!

Cheers and thanks for reading :)
