Hi Yun, I'm in the same boat and I had done a little research
previously for WiFi spots - the problem is that they keep changing all
the time.

One with reliable WiFi, close to amenities and in a relatively central
location is the State Library [2] - they have FREE WiFi for the whole
day (just go up to the information counter and get that days WPA key).

There are a few caveats though:
* Finding a spot to sit during the uni exam period is almost impossible
* You need to have constant activity otherwise the link gets dropped -
just knock up a batch script to ICMP ping yahoo.com once every ten
minutes and it should be ok.
* No toilets inside the library - which means you might have to leave
your laptop unattended
* No eating inside the library
* Network is not appropriately segregated - users can see each other -
not a problem if you have configured your firewall appropriately.

Upsides: YouTube seemed to work last I was there and the download
speed is more than sufficient for general web surfing.

Also, McDonalds is rolling out a program to provide FREE WiFi at their
joints [1]. I haven't checked this out, but it would be a good place
to meet up. I've found that its just easier to work at home and
alternate between my mates places and mine - all the comforts of home
and unlimited Internet! After some back-of-the-napkin calculations, it
works out cheaper to drive to my mates place and work there than
taking public transport + buying food + getting dressed up to go out :-)

... just get your mum/girlfriend/partner to take the Xbox controllers
to work so you don't muck around :-)

Good luck with the start up dude, don't forget to send us all beta
invites :-)

Peace,
Shaon
