Screen saver on laptop

I have RH 8.0 on a laptop and the screen saver only work when I test in the settings menu. When I save it and the screen saver suppose to activate the screen just go black, but I can go back normally.   Best 3150 433 MhZ 128 ram ATI 3D Rage LT Pro ( ATI Mach64 driver )   Conny
