i'd like to create email accounts for my clients, but not have the accounts be
established as a (hitherto useful) side effect of them being system accounts. i
want to keep some existing system accounts and their resultant email accounts

currently, for me to add an account for client.com, e.g., [EMAIL PROTECTED], i have
to do "useradd" for joe. i add client.com to my postfix main.cf as a domain to
handle mail for. now, that gives me (vora) an email account at client.com.

i want to have a distinct db of names for each domain (with mysql?) and have
postfix look at that instead of looking at system accounts. i'd like to do this
on a test db so that my clients don't lose any emails while i am messing about.

i want to do the same thing for ftp (using proftpd), too. is mysql secure for
doing this?

thanks,
vora
