Hi I'm using a RH 7.1 distro with 2.4.2 kernel.
I seem to be having problems doing a Tape back up. The Tape drive, I beleive is working fine.Ran a modprobe on aic7xxx.Output showed Sequentail access etc.. Then ran the command tar -cpzvf /dev/nst0 /home. The command throws the file list on the screen for a few files and then hangs..later times out.I tried the same on st0 also. That hung too. Then i end up restarting my system coz any successive commands using "mt" returns a device/resource busy signal.(Am not able to kill the process.Zombie persists) Also every time I reboot , I end up doing an modprobe on aic7xxx coz the module doesnt get installed on startup. The following is the default output of lsmod: Module Size Used by nfsd 69696 8 (autoclean) lockd 52464 1 (autoclean) [nfsd] sunrpc 61328 1 (autoclean) [nfsd lockd] autofs 11264 1 (autoclean) 3c59x 25344 1 (autoclean) ipchains 38976 0 (unused) ide-scsi 8352 0 scsi_mod 95104 1 [ide-scsi] ide-cd 26848 0 cdrom 27232 0 [ide-cd] usb-uhci 20720 0 (unused) usbcore 49664 1 [usb-uhci] What am I missing?Any help?
