BasicallyIamhavingtheproblembelow:
IhaveaserverexportingNIS/NFStomyother2pc's,the serveramongstothersis
exporting/hometoallmymachineswiththeusercreatedontheserver).
SoIcanbootupanyboxandlogintomyaccountontheserver..

ThisworksfineifIbootuptotextmodeandthenloginandtype:startx,

Butifiupbootuptoinit:5togdmtologin(itworksfineasrootforbothtextandgdm,
as root is only allowed to log into the local
account)itrefusesaccess,basicallyin/var/log/messages,itmoaningaboutcannotauthorisetheuser,

Asitworksfinebootingtoinit:3andthenlogginginandstartingXfornormalusers.

It seems that gdm for some reason is not using nis? and looking directly at the local
/etc/passwd file, and cannot find the user

TobehonestIamnotsurewheretheproblemcouldbe,gdm,pam,X?
