I had a system error that required fsck to be run. I answered yes to ALL of
its questions and now I see some error messages on bootup. The errors
included kudzu, gpm and mouse not starting. I forced rpm to install those
packages again. It seems to have fixed their problems.

My question is - is there a way to check packages for corruption? I am
worried that other packages are corrupt but are not used during bootup and I
do not see errors because of it.

I am a newbie still so be extra clear with your answers if you wouldn't mind.

Also - I do not know the cause of the error but it seems to be caused by
some problem with the hard drive. Is there a program to thoroughly check a
hard drive?

thanks,
Michael Davis
