removing /usr/X11R6/bin/xscreensaver worked for gnome. (I didn't remove
the xscreensaver package because it would break lots of other things in
gnome). After removing /usr/X11R6/bin/xscreensaver, the lock icon in
gnome disappeared - excellent!
It's a different story in KDE though, and I can't quite figure out how
it calls the screensaver with the lock option enabled. Ideally i would
like users to be able to lock the screen for a maximum of say five
minutes(time to use the toilet say, but not go for a 2 hour lunch!)
Any other ideas on how KDE calls its screensaver anyone?
